Sheheryar T. Sheheryar’s professional background is diverse. Sheheryar has prominently represented several clients, including a clean technology company in the carbon field with its financing and deal-flow goals, a nationally recognized web analytics company, a financial marketing company with its corporate infrastructure, a private equity boutique focused on emerging markets in South Asia, numerous digital and social media companies in creating their digital policies, and complex commercial litigation in New York State courts on behalf of numerous companies and individuals dealing with breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties, corporate negligence and unfair dealing. He previously represented an election candidate in New York during the 2009 election season, advocating in favor of remaining on the ballot.
Prior to founding SLF, Sheheryar assisted Senior Counsel at The Coca-Cola Company in its Marketing Division, analyzing complex vendor licensing agreements and Fortune 500 corporate partnership contracts. He also spent time in-house at Scientific Atlanta – A Cisco Company, where he analyzed telecommunication technology licensing contracts and assessed expansion strategies of broadband technology into new geographic areas.
Sheheryar’s international experience was obtained at the Prague-based law firm Kriz & Belina, where his work included technology licensing and joint venture agreements between a Czech entity and a South African company. He also analyzed European bilateral investment treatises pertaining to government takings of private entities, resulting in shareholder dilution.
Sheheryar’s private sector accomplishments are complimented by his work at all levels of government. At the U.S. Department of Labor, Regional Solicitor’s Office, he assisted in all aspects of litigation arising under federal statutory law, focusing on MSHA, OSHA, USERRA and Title VII claims. Further, Sheheryar was a Judicial Intern for the Hon. Anthony J. Parrillo of the New Jersey Superior Court – Appellate Division, where he researched and wrote on the corporate veil piercing doctrine.
Prior to law school, Sheheryar worked as a Legislative Assistant at the Georgia State Capitol – Secretary of the Senate’s Office, where he developed his acumen for lobbying. During law school he applied those skills at the Barton Child Law & Policy Clinic, engaging in child welfare reform during the 2007 Georgia legislative session.
In addition to his corporate and litigation work, Sheheryar focuses on Islamic Finance and Shar’iah compliant transactions. With a focus on a cultural understanding of both parties, he is developing a niche in this practice area. As a nominated board member of the International Trade Committee of the NYC Bar Association (Sept. 2009 – Present), Sheheryar also focuses on complex international trade issues.

Sheheryar received his J.D. from Emory University School of Law, with Dean’s List (Top 20%) for Spring 2008; He also received a High Grade Award for Comparative Law, served as the President for South Asian Law Students Association, and received the Pro Bono Medal, bestowed on students who exemplified the highest public interest commitment. Sheheryar attended the Paris Summer Institute-Cornell Law School at the University of Paris, Pantheone-Sorbonne, where he studied international commercial arbitration. Sheheryar received his B.B.A. from Georgia State University, graduating as a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, Faculty Scholar and on the Dean’s List.
